Definition for Value SetObservation Interpretation Codes
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>A categorical assessment, providing a rough qualitative interpretation of the observation value, such as “normalâ€/ “abnormalâ€,â€lowâ€ / “highâ€, “betterâ€ / “worseâ€, “susceptibleâ€ / “resistantâ€, “expectedâ€/ “not expectedâ€. The value set is intended to be for ANY use where coded representation of an interpretation is needed. This is being communicated in v2.x in OBX-8 (Observation Interpretation), in v3 in ObservationInterp retation (CWE) in R1 (Representative Realm) and in FHIR in Observation.interpretation. Historically these values come from the laboratory domain, and these codes are extensively used. The value set binding is extensible, so codes outside the value set that are needed for interpretation concepts (i.e. particular meanings) that are not included in the value set can be used, and these new codes may also be added to the value set and published in a future version. Include all codes defined in<ValueSet xmlns="http://hl7.org/fhir"> <id value="observation-interpretation"/> <meta> <lastUpdated value="2023-03-26T15:21:02.749+11:00"/> <profile value="http://hl7.org/fhir/StructureDefinition/shareablevalueset"/> </meta> <text> <status value="generated"/> <div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <ul> <li> Include all codes defined in <a href="http://terminology.hl7.org/5.1.0/CodeSystem-v3-ObservationInterpretation.html"> <code> http://terminology.hl7.org/CodeSystem/v3-ObservationInterpretation</code> </a> </li> </ul> </div> </text> <extension url="http://hl7.org/fhir/StructureDefinition/structuredefinition-wg"> <valueCode value="oo"/> </extension> <extension url="http://hl7.org/fhir/StructureDefinition/structuredefinition-standards-status"> <valueCode value="normative"/> </extension> <extension url="http://hl7.org/fhir/StructureDefinition/structuredefinition-normative-version"> <valueCode value="4.0.0"/> </extension> <extension url="http://hl7.org/fhir/StructureDefinition/structuredefinition-fmm"> <valueInteger value="5"/> </extension> <url value="http://hl7.org/fhir/ValueSet/observation-interpretation"/> <identifier> <system value="urn:ietf:rfc:3986"/> <value value="urn:oid:2.16.840.1.113883.4.642.3.399"/> </identifier> <identifier> <use value="old"/> <system value="urn:ietf:rfc:3986"/> <value value="urn:oid:2.16.840.1.113883.4.642.3.386"/> </identifier> <identifier> <use value="old"/> <system value="urn:ietf:rfc:3986"/> <value value="urn:oid:2.16.840.1.113883.4.642.2.218"/> </identifier> <version value="5.0.0"/> <name value="ObservationInterpretationCodes"/> <title value="Observation Interpretation Codes"/> <status value="active"/> <experimental value="false"/> <publisher value="FHIR Project team"/> <contact> <telecom> <system value="url"/> <value value="http://hl7.org/fhir"/> </telecom> </contact> <description value="A categorical assessment, providing a rough qualitative interpretation of the observationvalue, such as “normalâ€/ “abnormalâ€,â€lowâ€ / “highâ€, “betterâ€ / “worseâ€, “susceptibleâ€ / “resistantâ€, “expectedâ€/ “not expectedâ€.
