This value set contains 8 concepts

Expansion based on http://hl7.org/fhir/CodeSystem/medicationrequest-status version 4.0.1 MedicationRequest Status Codes v4.3.0 (CodeSystem)

All codes in this table are from the system http://hl7.org/fhir/CodeSystem/medicationrequest-status

Canonical Status ~ active ~ suspended ~ abandoned ~ complete ~ error ~ failed ~ draft ~ unknown
Code Display Definition
active Active The prescription is 'actionable', but not all actions that are implied by it have occurred yet.
on-hold On Hold Actions implied by the prescription are to be temporarily halted, but are expected to continue later. May also be called 'suspended'.
cancelled Cancelled The prescription has been withdrawn before any administrations have occurred
completed Completed All actions that are implied by the prescription have occurred.
entered-in-error Entered in Error Some of the actions that are implied by the medication request may have occurred. For example, the medication may have been dispensed and the patient may have taken some of the medication. Clinical decision support systems should take this status into account
stopped Stopped Actions implied by the prescription are to be permanently halted, before all of the administrations occurred. This should not be used if the original order was entered in error
draft Draft The prescription is not yet 'actionable', e.g. it is a work in progress, requires sign-off, verification or needs to be run through decision support process.
unknown Unknown The authoring/source system does not know which of the status values currently applies for this observation. Note: This concept is not to be used for 'other' - one of the listed statuses is presumed to apply, but the authoring/source system does not know which.

Explanation of the columns that may appear on this page:

Lvl A few code lists that FHIR defines are hierarchical - each code is assigned a level. For value sets, levels are mostly used to organize codes for user convenience, but may follow code system hierarchy - see Code System for further information
Source The source of the definition of the code (when the value set draws in codes defined elsewhere)
Code The code (used as the code in the resource instance). If the code is in italics, this indicates that the code is not selectable ('Abstract')
Display The display (used in the display element of a Coding ). If there is no display, implementers should not simply display the code, but map the concept into their application
Definition An explanation of the meaning of the concept
Comments Additional notes about how to use the code
